CORBOXYLATE, ITS PRODUCTION AND HEAT-SENSITIVE RECORDING MATERIAL USING CARBOXYLATE COMPOUND

PURPOSE: To obtain a new compound useful as a heat-sensitive recording material capable of reading an optical letter, having excellent colored image stability. CONSTITUTION: This compound is shown by formula I (ring A is a substitutable aromatic residue; R<1> is a substitutable aryl) such as 1,3- diiminoisoindolinebenzoate. The compound of formula I is obtained by reacting an imino compound of formula II with a carboxylic acid of the formula R<1> COOH in a solventless state or in a solvent (e.g. methanol) at 0-180 deg.C. A heat- sensitive recording material is obtained by adding the compound of formula I to a substrate (e.g. laminated paper) and providing a recording layer capable of showing a colored state by heating. The recording layer consists of a coloring component and a binder. The heat-sensitive recording material has absorption in both a visible zone and a far infrared zone and so is widely used.
