PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a voltage lowering circuit that can increase the current drive capability, reduce standby current, stabilize the internal power source voltage, and reduce the size. SOLUTION: The voltage lowering circuit 1 lowers the external power source voltage VDD based on a predetermined reference voltage Vref1, and generates the internal power source voltage Vint. The voltage lowering circuit 1 comprises a negative feedback circuit having an operational amplifier 13 for generating driving voltage Vout1 according to the voltage difference between the voltage based on the internal power source voltage Vint and the reference voltage Vref1 and a driving transistor DRV1 for outputting the internal power source voltage Vint according to the driving voltage Vout1, and a control circuit 15 for generating a control signal IS1 for varying and controlling the response speed of the negative feedback circuit when the voltage difference between the internal power source voltage Vint and the reference voltage Vref1 exceeds a predetermined range.
