<p>The method involves setting linear ranges (L3, L4, L5) for a hearing device. A transition point such as knee points (K2, K3), is set between the linear ranges so as to separate the linear ranges. An input signal level range of the hearing device is acquired. The transition point is displaced as a function of an input level range (EB) such that the transition point is displaced below the input signal level range. The amplification characteristic is adjusted automatically to the input signal level range. An independent claim is also included for a hearing device comprising an amplification unit.</p> |
