PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a walking-type tiller equipped with leaves-protective covers and designed to prevent engine overheating during rotary tilling work in a farm where trees are cultivated in rows in a tea garden or orchard or the like. SOLUTION: The walking-type tiller has the following construction: Engines(3 and 61) are loaded in front of and above a machine body mounted with rotary tilling apparatuses(18 and 58), exhaust mufflers(56 and 62) are set in the proximity of the engines respectively, steering handles(11 and 67) are set toward rearwardly and upwardly of the machine body, and the leaves-protective covers(40 and 80) covering the front face and left and right flanks of the machine body are set. In this tiller, the leaves-protective covers(40 and 80) are designed to be slopes(40b and 80b) seen from the top for the portion ranging from the front face to the flanks and the slopes(40b and 80b) are provided with many exhaust gas vent holes(55, 88).
