PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a simultaneous assay method for responding to a large number of cells, with which the states of a large number of cells supported on a chip, for example, reactivities of lymphocytes to antigen irritation are simultaneously assayed and the state of each cell is individually grasped. SOLUTION: The method for assaying a cell state comprises detecting fluorescence from at least a part of a position of a plurality of positions on a cell chip independently retaining a plurality of cells at the plurality of the positions by an image sensor, recording the detected fluorescence intensity for each position and indicating the recorded fluorescence intensity and a converted value from the fluorescence intensity.
