An LED(Light Emitting Diode) and a manufacturing method thereof are provided to reduce scribing defects and improve productivity by preventing a sealant from being spread due to pressure generated when a substrate and a protective unit are joined together. An LED includes a substrate(210), a pixel unit(220), a protective unit(240), and a solid sealant(230a). The pixel unit(220) includes two electrodes formed on the substrate(210), and a light emitting layer formed between the two electrodes. The protective unit(240) is formed on the substrate(210) to cover the pixel unit(220). The solid sealant(230a) seals the substrate(210) and the protective unit(240), and includes a getter(230b). |
