PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and an apparatus for turning on and off FET to be used in an amplifier by which the amplifier can be surely turned on and off. SOLUTION: The apparatus for turning on and off the FET to be used in the amplifier comprises a first converter which converts a primary negative voltage to a secondary positive voltage and has its output connected to the drain of the FET 6, second converter 2 for converting a primary negative voltage to a secondary positive voltage, third converter 10 which receives the output of the first converter 1 and converts it to a secondary negative voltage, fourth converter 3 which receives the output of the second converter 2 and converts it to a secondary negative voltage, diode circuit which combines the output of the third converter and the output of the fourth converter and applies the combined output to the gate of the FET, and sequence circuit which receives the output in the negative direction from the diode circuit and applies an on/off signal to the first converter 1.
