A lithium ion battery including an oxygen scavenger is provided to prevent the damage of a negative plate through the side reaction of oxygen and a negative active material by forming a thin film on the surface of a ceramic coating layer of a negative electrode. A lithium ion battery comprises electrolyte containing a non-aqueous organic solvent, a lithium salt and an oxygen scavenger; a positive electrode intercalating/deintercalating lithium; and a negative electrode containing a carbon-based negative active material layer intercalating/deintercalating lithium. The oxygen scavenger is any one selected from the group consisting of,2,5- trimethyl pyrrole, triphenylphosphine and cupric oxide. |
