PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To generate an interpolation frame of high quality without utilizing an optical flow.SOLUTION: A frame interpolation device comprises: a motion detection part 11 which detects a block similar to an object block as a corresponding candidate block from adjacent frames, and then detects a motion vector indicative of correspondence relation between both the blocks; an effective block selection part 12 which calculates a spatial distance between a first object block and a second corresponding candidate block corresponding to a first corresponding candidate block when a first candidate block corresponding to the first object block is regarded as a second object block, and determines that a motion vector indicative of correspondence relation between the object block and first corresponding candidate block when the spatial distance exceeds a threshold is ineffective; and an interpolation pixel value calculation part 13 which calculates a pixel value of an interpolation frame using an effective motion vector that the effective block selection part does not determine to be ineffective and an effective block corresponding to an effective motion vector.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1 |
