PURPOSE: To produce a soft-magtetic steel material having a composition, in which specific amounts of C, T.N, Al, Si, and Cr are contained and a parameter showing the contribution of Al, Si, and Cr is specified, and having superior magnetic flux density, coercive force and high electric resistance. CONSTITUTION: A steel, having a composition which consists, essentially, of, by weight, <=0.007% C, <=0.01% T.N, 1-4% Al, 0-1.5% (including 0%) Si, 0-5% (including 0%) Cr, and the balance Fe and in which the S value calculated by equation S=2×(Al%+Si%)+Cr% is regulated to 4.5-9. is refined and cast into an ingot. This ingot is hot-rolled into a steel stock of prescribed shape, which is heat-treated at >=800 deg.C. By this method, the soft-magtetic steel material, combining >=40μmΩcm electric resistance, <=about 56A/m (0.70e) coercive force, >=1.5T (15000G) magnetic flux density (B25) in high magnetic field, and 1.0T (10000G) magnetic flux density in low magnetic field, can be obtained. |
