In a conveyer system a carrier movable along a main track 12 is divertable at a juncture to a branch track 13 by junction means movable between two positions, therebeing a permanent magnet 23 holding the junction means in one position, a spring 29 urging it to the other position and an electromagnetic coil, surrounding the magnet 23, which can be energized to counteract the effect of the permanent magnet. A shaft 19 on a tongue 18 pivoted to a track rail supports an armature 22 on a lever 21 with the armature, in the main track position, engaging the permanent magnet 23. When the electromagnetic coil is energized the spring 29 rotates the tongue away from the magnet for diverting the carrier on to the branch track. The carrier is moved along the elevated main track by means of an attached dog 16 engaging a conveyer chain 14. As the carrier coasts along the branch track its guide rollers 31 contact and extension 32 of the tongue to return it to the main track position with the armature engaged by the magnet. The coil may be energized manually or by a signal from the carrier. |
