The method, which uses UV during the prodn. or processing of paper, cardboard or fibreboard, comprises the ablation of a selected point, line, surface or vol. of the raw material, e.g. tree logs, for the finished (un)coated, printed, lacquered or converted prods., with (un)pulsed UV at 1 - 400 nm wavelength for 50 s or less.
