Solar mirror e.g. for photosynthetic solar energy conversion, and for supplying solar cells with radiant solar energy

A mirror for giving diffuse reflections is made out of individual overlapping hard reflecting plates which can be exchanged. They are fastened to an inflatable carrier and are bent so that their elastic limit is not exceeded. Thus a concave surface is given. The main component of the carrier is a toroid, with a meridional curve given by a particular differential equation. The wall of the inflatable toroid is made up of overlapping elastic pieces of foil and tensioned by a net. The net comprises both rigid and flexible links, using wound and twisted rings made from a tension-proof fibre.
