[Also in Division G5] Sheets, cards &c. are fed over a guide surface 24 by a roller 27 protruding from a bore 22 in a housing having the surface 24, the sheet being pressed against the roller by suction applied through a port 29 on one side of the roller, the port being connected to a suction source through a valve 34 when required to feed. A second roller 28 may be provided, rotating in the opposite direction, and a second port 32, the ports 29, 32 being connected selectively and oppositely to sources of suction and pressure, so that the sheet can be fed in either direction. The capstan surface may be roughened or coated e.g. with polyurethane, to improve grip. |
