1295514 Cleaning headlamp glasses HOLZER PATENT A G 13 Feb 1970 [14 Feb 19691 6996/70 Heading A4F A vehicle headlamp or other lamp assembly has a wiper blade or blades 3 arranged to engage the outer surface of a lamp glass 1 and mounted on a drive shaft 13 for rotation about an axis oblique to the optical axis of a light beam directed through the glass 1. The arm 12 carrying the wiper blade or blades 3 may extend radially on one side only of the shaft 13, or, as shown, on both sides and carry nozzles 7 through which liquid is discharged onto the glass 1. The shaft 13 is hollow for the passage of the cleaning liquid and is rotated by an electric motor 2 which also drives a pump for delivering the cleaning liquid. A circuit breaker is provided whereby the wiper arm 12 stops in a predetermined desired position when the motor 2 is switched off. The glass 1 may be inclined, as shown, or vertical when a universal joint or spring coupling is provided in the drive shaft. |
