[Also in Division A4] Articles comprising a central wood-resin core and a foamed resin coating having an external non-pervious skin, are made by applying a formable resin to the core and foaming the resin in a mould larger than the core by the thickness of the desired coating. The skin may be formed by a non-foamed outer portion of the resin coating or by applying a sheet, such as a melamine resin sheet, to the resin before foaming. The foaming resin may be a urethane, or epoxy, or a styrene resin. In the particular examples, chair seats are made.</p> |
