Silver halide emulsions are prepared by precipitating silver halide in presence of colloidal silicic acid sol., setting or flaking and washing of emulsion with subsequent ripening, the silicic acid sol containing lower aliphatic alcohols and/or organic polymers to prevent agglomeration of silicic and particles.
