PURPOSE: To easily provide the guide information of a target item by grasping the relation of respective items at the document preparing device equipped with a help function. CONSTITUTION: An area 21a for help at an external storage device 21 stores the guide information of respective items at the help function and managing information showing the hierarchical structure of respective items. When the help function is instructed by operating a 'help' key 14a provided on a keyboard 14, a CPU 11 generates display information for item list just for the designated number of hierarchies from the managing information in the area 21a for help and based on that display information, the list of respective items is displayed on a display device 16. When any arbitrary item is selected from the picture of this list, the CPU 11 reads the guide information corresponding to that selected item from the area 21a for help and displays it on the display device 16. |
