<p>A drawing process is carried out by using a Z main buffer that stores depth information, which represents a distance from a visual point, in such a manner that it corresponds to individual pixels on a display screen. The Z main buffer is divided into MxN blocks, each including KxL pixels. The minimum value ZMINR and the maximum value ZMAXR of the depth information on the pixels in each block are stored in their corresponding locations in a ZR buffer. The minimum and maximum values of the depth information on a polygon are expressed by ZMIN, ZMAX respectively. When ZMIN≥ZMAXR, a process for referring to the depth information stored in the Z main buffer and a drawing process for the polygon are omitted, and, when ZMAX≤ZMINR, a drawing process for the polygon is carried out without referring to the depth information stored in the Z main buffer.</p> |
