A refractory hanger brick used for supporting monolithic roofs and walls of industrial furnaces comprises a rectangular head with end recesses 6 and 7 for inverted U -clips 4 and 5, and two recesses 13 and 14 extending at an angle upwardly from diagonally opposite corners of the brick in the side faces of the head. The recesses receive one arm 4<SP>1</SP>, 5<SP>1</SP> of clips 4, 5 which are disposed side by side and hook over the flanges of a support girder 2. In a modification, Figs. 6-8 (not shown), recesses extend from all four corners of the brick, one pair of diagonally opposed recesses being deeper than the other pair, so that the arms of the clips lie within the side faces of the brick head. |
