A homogenisation process for liquid, pasty, plastic, powdery of finely-granulated materials consists of applying to the flexible-walled vessel contg. the material an external force which presses the vessel-locally inwards; this inward pressure is progressively moved along the vessel wall so that a local reduction in the cross-section travels along the surface causing a wave in the contained material ahead of the external pressure. The vessel used is pref. elongated, e.g. a flexible tube, the pressure being applied across its whole width from one or both sides and moved along the tube length. The advantages are improved mixing with reduced damage to fine particles of the material.
