Desalination membrane - of corrugated vinyldene fluoride

Corrugated microporous membrane for desalination of sea water, satisfies the following criteria : no. of corrugations is >=8 per inch; material is >=90% vinylidene fluoride; pore volume is >=50%; pore size mostly 0.5-2 mu. Pref. there are about 72 corrugations per inch, of amplitude about half the membrane thickness which is about 6 mils measured at top of corrugations. The membrane is cast on a silicone rubber mould of which the surface is modified with a silane.
