The device has a connecting member (4), with a pulling loop (6) for a wheel brake, and a part (5) which has a space (9) into which the nipple (7) of a pulling cable (2) can be inserted. The cable is restrained by a retainer which has a slit through which the cable can pass.The space has an insertion opening (10), which is shorter than the nipple and is bounded at the rear by a stop (17). There is a clearance (18) below the stop, and the end of the nipple is tapered (8). The nipple may be gripped close to its centre by the retainer.
