The gate has a double acting spring-loaded hinge (2) that supports a barrier arm (3). The barrier is made of an electrically conductive material, pref. stainless steel. The barrier length can be extended with a conductive carbon fibre rod (1). The end of the rod carries an electrically insulating handle (14) that can be used to operate the gate manually. Otherwise the gate can be pushed aside by passage of a vehicle.The barrier is connected (7) to the electric fence to supply the electric potential needed to repel animals. The barrier can be held in the open position by a catch (13). The hinge is insulated where it attaches to the gate post.
