<p>The web of paper (1) which is folded and possibly cut longitudinally in the former (92) is cut transversely (5, 6) to the book length and moved onto a collecting cylinder (9) for collecting layers of paper. The latter are passed onto a transfer cylinder (12), bound longitudinally thereon by means of a device (13), then folded longitudinally (15) and delivered (19). The collecting cylinder is designed for the largest format to be processed. The transversely cut sheets of paper are conveyed to the collecting cylinder (9) by means of a conveyor belt (7) which can run at various speeds. As a result, shorter or longer sheets of paper can be fed more rapidly or more slowly to the collecting cylinder (9), and the subsequent transfer cylinder (12) also runs at an adapted rotary speed. The subsequent longitudinal folding takes place by means of a rotating folding blade (15). A higher throughput can thus be achieved in a simple manner since solely rotating members (5, 6, 7, 9, 12, 13, 15) are used. <IMAGE></p> |
