The vertically displaceable window wing (1) possesses two pivotably articulated swivel mechanisms (7, 12) on each casement side. These scissor mechanisms engage via guide elements (8, 13) into lateral guide rails (9). The guide elements of the upper scissor mechanisms are connected by means of ropes (3) to a further window wing (2) which functions as a counterweight. A simple actuating mechanism for an accurate closing and opening movement is achieved in that the lower swivel mechanisms (7) carry rollers (8) which engage into the guide rails (9). At the lower end, these rails are angled outwards. At the end of the closing operation, the lower roller of each lower swivel mechanism is forced away into this angled portion. The lower casement is thereby pivoted into the window aperture. <IMAGE>
