1530039 Removing metals from solution BRITISH PETROLEUM CO Ltd 5 July 1977 [9 July 1976] 28631/76 Heading C1A [Also in Division C5] Heavy metals, transition metals and actinide metals may be removed from solution by contact with the product obtained by reacting an inorganic solid containing surface hydroxyl groups e.g. Al 2 0 3 , TiO 2 , ZrO 2 , glass, sepiolite or a zeolite in a first stage with a compound of formula:- (I) wherein R is a divalent organic group containing up to 20 C atoms, R' and R<SP>2</SP> are halogen atoms or organic radicals, Y is halogen or -OR<SP>3</SP> in which R<SP>3</SP> represents H, alkyl, aryl or acyl group containing up to 20 C atoms and X is halogen and reacting the product of the first stage at elevated temperature with a polyamine of formula:- wherein R<SP>4</SP>, R<SP>5</SP>, R<SP>6</SP> and R<SP>7</SP> represent H, alkyl or aryl groups containing up to 20 C and may be the same or different, n = 1-5, m = 1-5 or a polyamine of formula |
