The canopy comprises a fixed pole (1) and a movable pole (3) which can move along the fixed pole; towards each end of the movable pole, return pulleys (11, 12) for pairs of cables with one end of each one of them being fixed near the upper end of the fixed pole, whilst the other end of each cable is fixed to a common component (15) capable of moving along the movable pole, telescopic rods (17, 18) supporting the canvas cloth (10) articulated on the upper end of the said movable pole; and arms (21, 23) allowing the rods to open during the raising of the said movable pole, and of the said common component respectively and a jack (5) controlling the raising and lowering of the said movable pole. The object of the design of the canopy is to create a canopy which can be handled by only one man. <IMAGE>
