PURPOSE:To form a photo recording medium whose data can easily be erased by a low-output laser beam, by providing a couple of conductor layer (At least either one is transparent.) on both sides of a junction body between a chalcogenide noncrystalline semiconductor layer and photoconductor layer. CONSTITUTION:On both sides of a junction body between As, Se, S, and Ge-based chalcogenide noncrystalline semiconductor layer 2 and photoconductor layer 3, transparent conductor layers 1 and 4 are provided and fitted on transparent substrate 5 and power supply 6 is arranged between transparent conductor layers 1 and 4 to make it possible to supply power, thereby obtaining a photo recording medium. For write and read operations, power supply 6 is not connected and operations are performed as usual. To erase record, power supply 6 is connected to apply a voltage of approximate 100V between conductors 1 and 4 and at the same time, the photo recording medium is irradiated with laser beam A (e.g., He-Ne laser of wavelength 6328Angstrom and energy density approximate 2mJ/cm<2>) to change blackened parts of noncrystalline semiconductor layer 2 into transparent parts for the erasing of record. |
