A self-stabilizing support foot consists of a column 5 with four projecting support legs 1, 2, 3, 4 which in one plane are fixed to the column 5 by means of a member 6. In the other plane, the support legs 1, 2, 3, 4 each have a connection piece 7 which is connected to a balance member 8 at one connection point which, either as a result of the stiffness of the legs and/or by means of lateral control, is only able to execute movements inwards or away from the centre point of the column 5. The balance member 8 is designed in such a way that every second one of its connection points moves the same distance towards the centre point as the two others move away from the centre point. This function controls the upward and downward movements of the legs in such a way that the support legs 1 and 3 move, for example, in the downward direction as the support legs 2 and 4 are moved in the upward direction. The movements are effected by the weight acting on the support foot, and their magnitude is determined by the unevenness of the ground surface. When all four legs are in contact with the ground surface, the support foot is stable against rocking, even when loaded with considerable eccentricity. <IMAGE>
