Pneumatic chamber for enhancing entanglement in fibrous yarns - using a radial pneumatic jet entering via a restricted orifice

A dynamic pneumatic chamber for enhancing the degree of entanglement of fibrous yarns comprises a covered half round or circular section passage across the face of a rigid block into which air is injected normal to the passage via an air passage discharging via a relatively small orifice with a short land and an abrupt change of section at the entry to the orifice. The constricted orifice increases the turbulence of the jet as it enters the yarn guide, thus enhancing the effect of the jet on the yarn. Opt. the yarn passage is complemented by a tangential slot via which a continuous yarn may be introduced laterally.
