A prepn. of a substantially closed cell olefin polymer foam having dimensional stability comprises (a) heat plastifying an olefin polymer resin (I) selected from homo and copolymers of ethylene, and a copolymerizable monomer (II), (b) mixing the resin from (a) with a stability control agent, and with a blowing agent, and (c) activating blowing agent to expand the mixt. to a closed cell polymer foam.
