PURPOSE: To measure the performance of a data processing system without using an external monitor by deciding message response time from the combination and comparison of a message transmitted from a terminal to a central processing unit and a relating message transmitted from the central processing unit to the terminal after a processing. CONSTITUTION: A first timing message is recorded including a series number included in a system message and the verification of the message transmitted from the terminal 22 to the central processing unit 20 and a second timing message is recorded including the verification of the message transmitted from the central processing unit 20 to a data terminal 22. Then, both timing messages are combined by prescribed relation between the series numbers, time data included in them are compared and total elapsed time between the transmission and reception of first and second system messages is set. Thus, since monitoring is completely performed in the terminal 22 and the response time of the central processing unit 20 is not distorted, the operation is not affected. |
