Catalyst for aromatizing light hydrocarbons and process for production thereof

A catalyst for producing aromatic hydrocarbons from aliphatic hydrocarbons, especially propene, comprises a synthetic aluminium silicate of the ZSM-5 type, to which zinc or gallium compound has been added. The zeolite catalyst is to reduce coking and increase the stability of the zinc or gallium compound modified by the realization, following the addition of the zinc or gallium compound, of crystallization-induced transformation of the zeolite crystals, as well as of an ion exchange in acid form and a calcination.
