The fork lift truck has a U-shaped chassis with two front wheels and a single steerable rear wheel, a control cab (2) and a lifting system with a telescopic arm (9). The arm is pivoted horizontally to the rear of the chassis above the steerable rear wheel and is raised or lowered by a power cylinder. The control cab (2) is situated to one side of the fork lift truck and its engine on the other, with the pivoted lifting arm in between the two, equipped with a supporting panel for the forks on its free end, controlled by a second power cylinder which keeps the forks horizontal. The lorry which carries the fork lift truck has sleeves (20) to receive the forks and a support (21) to take the weight of the raised truck.
