The method involves forming the torque converter component (3) by pressing a plate element. A preformed blank with a predetermined cross-section of constant thickness is produced from a planar plate element. The preformed blank is finish pressed so that a zone of the blank is subjected to thrusts parallel to the local die surfaces (11,12) close to the zone, to form the corner zone (34). The corner area is formed at a radially outer area of a front cover of a torque converter through the finish pressing.
