<p>The invention relates to a device (1) for heating a medium by radiation, provided with a container (2) for the medium for heating which is arranged in a housing (3) which has a transparent wall (7) and a mirror surface (5,31). The container (2) is enclosed with an interspace (9) by a transparent insulating sleeve (8) which comprises a transparent foil (16) tensioned on a plurality of supports (15). The container (2) can be arranged at a distance from the mirror surface (5,31) and have means (18,20) for enlarging its absorption surface. The invention further relates to a system for distributing a medium for heating which is provided with a source of cold medium and a pipe system connecting the source to tap points, in which system such a radiation heating device is incorporated.
