PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide facsimile equipment which make the best use of the capability of communication with the destination device and is capable of transmission confirmation. SOLUTION: Before facsimile communication, it is discriminated whether a destination device 200 responded to a call originated a PSTN(pay station telephone network) is capable of facsimile communication through the internet 500 or not; and if it is capable of facsimile communication through the internet, facsimile communication to the destination device through the internet is performed in accordance with received reception data after the reception capability of the destination device and the internet address of the destination device are receives to release the call of the PSTN 400. Then, the communication result from the destination device through the internet is reported through the PSTN 400.
