摘要 PURPOSE: To provide a parallel light source for a compact back light which is shallow in the depth for a liquid crystal display device using hologram color filters and a liquid crystal display device using the light source. CONSTITUTION: The parallel light source for the liquid crystal display device using the hologram color filters for making nearly parallel beams incident on spectral pixels of corresponding colors by diffraction spectroscopy as color filters consists of a microconverging lens array 31 and primary micro-light sources 42 arranged at the focuses of the respective microlenses of the offaxial positions and generates nearly parallel beams 3 to be made incident on the hologram color filters. The primary microlight sources 42 are able to of white LEDs, white phosphors, white phosphors for irradiation through pinholes, thin- film phosphor arrays, etc. The microconverging lens array 31 may be composed of a distributed refractive index lens.
