STRAIN B/PANAMA/90/4/E FOR PRODUCTION OF LIVING INTRANASAL INFLUENZA VACCINE FOR ADULT AND CHILDREN

FIELD: virology, medicine. SUBSTANCE: vaccine strain B/Panama/90/4/E - reassortant obtained by crossing epidemic virus B/Panama/45/90 with cold-adopted temperature-sensitive virus B/USSR/69/E - attenuation donor that is harmless for adult and children and can be used for preparing reassortant vaccine strains from the newly appearing epidemic viruses. Strain B/Panama/90/4/E is actively propagated in chicken embryos at optimal temperature 32-34 C, shows temperature-sensitivity and cold-adaptation. Reassortant inherited two genes encoding surface proteins (hemagglutinin and neuraminidase) from epidemic virus and six genes encoding nonglycosylated proteins from attenuation donor. Strain B/Panama/90/4/E is areactogenic for adult and children of age 3-15 years at intranasal administration and satisfies immunogenicity indices. EFFECT: preparing vaccine strain corresponding actual virus B/Panama/45/90.
