A cutting chamber for a mower deck blade is comprised of first and seco nd adjoining skirt members of differing lengths to provide for a lifting air stream at the front of the chamber and a discharging air stream at the rear of the chamber . As a result, cut material can be recut in a mulching action and then easily discharged to the rear of the deck.
