PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical module which can attain the miniaturization, and to provide an imaging apparatus equipped with the optical module. SOLUTION: Projecting parts (136a to 139a) of a pair of position detecting projections 131a and 132a of a cylindrical cam 13 are overlaid on corner parts (10a to 10d) of an imager 10 in an optical axis direction. When the shadow of the projecting part (136a to 139a) is projected in an area of a position detecting photodetector on the corner part (10a to 10d), the projected image is converted by the imager 10 to an electric signal, and the position detection signal showing the rotating position of the cylindrical cam 13 is outputted by the imager 10.
