PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus in which a carrier collection device of a magnetic field-based collection type hardly influencing picture quality is used, and maintenance performance of magnetic field-based carrier collection is improved and a stable carrier collection function is maintained over a long period. SOLUTION: A conductive sleeve 40 of a magnet catch-up roll 34 is connected to a developing bias level of a developing part 18 through a varistor 42, so that relationship between a photoreceptor drum 12 and the magnet catch-up roll 34 becomes so-called relationship between semiconductors, electric influence is removed and collection of unauthorized carriers is not interrupted. Further toner is not collected. Since the charging quantity of the magnet catch-up roll is self-restricted, image defects or electronic noise due to insulation leakage between the developing part 18 and the photoreceptor drum 12 through unauthorized carriers is eliminated. Since an unauthorized carrier collector 32 can be integrated with the developing part 18, the size of the whole apparatus can be reduced. COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI
