PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus capable of realizing the prolongation of the life of the charging wire of a charger with simple constitution. SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus is equipped with the charger 32 for charging a photoreceptor 31 to prescribed potential by applying high voltage to the charging wire 321 disposed in the width direction of the photoreceptor 31 so that corona discharge may be generated. In the apparatus, the charger 32 has a wire rotating means 7, and the charging wire 321 is constituted to be attached to the wire rotating means 7 and rotate while it is opposed to the surface of the photoreceptor 31.
