A calculation unit (221) calculates time intervals between the tonic accent appearance moments. A regrouping unit (222) regroups the time intervals. An identification unit (223) identifies the rhythmic patterns from averages and variances. A signaling unit signals detection of events when the rhythmic patterns are identified. An independent claim is also included for a surveillance system comprising a sensor.
