Chamber for the treatment of workpieces as with a blast medium where the blast region of one or more blast devices can be closed by doors for the inlet and outlet of workpieces. A screen can so pivot in the chamber that it can assume an operating position in front of the chamber wall opposite to the outlet orifices of the blast devices. Alternatively, it can assume a closing position which seals the orificeS. There is automatic control for the screen and the door leaf. This control first opens the door leaf after the screen has assumed its closing position.
