PURPOSE: To provide a compact and inexpensive image forming device preventing a density difference from occurring on an image on a recording medium after executing an image forming process even when the initialization of surface potential for removing an afterimage on a photoreceptor and the cleaning of a transfer roll are performed concurrently before executing the image forming process. CONSTITUTION: In this image forming device provided with a contact transfer type transfer means; the polarity of bias impressed on the transfer roll 7a is freely switched to be either positive or negative and a laser beam initializing the potential of the photoreceptor 2 is applied to the same position as the radiation position of a laser for forming a latent image. Before executing the image forming process, toner adhering to the roll 7a is moved to the photoreceptor 2 by the bias having the same polarity as that of the toner, so that the roll 7a is cleaned. In the case of initializing the potential of the photoreceptor 2 by irradiating the surface of the photoreceptor with the laser beam, the bias having the same polarity as that of the toner is impressed on the roll 7a till the trailing end of the surface of the photoreceptor irradiated with the laser beam passes the roll 7a, and the bias having the reverse polarity to that of the toner is impressed on the roll 7a after that. |
