A diaphragm assembly, for use in pressure reducing valves, comprises a flexible diaphragm 10 of non-elastomeric material such as metal or a metal alloy, e.g. beryllium copper or stainless steel; or a synthetic plastics material, e.g. P.T.F.E. The diaphragm is disposed between surfaces of a fixed plate 13 and body part 12 which are profiled as shown, and is supported by the profiled surface of a movable actuator 16, so that the diaphragm flexes with a smooth continuous rolling action, the parts being arranged so that the diaphragm is substantially fully supported by the surfaces in its extreme positions as shown on the left and right of the figure. |
