Foil of coating material is stored as a roll. The latter is arranged vertically to the ppipe axis, unrolled parallel to the pipe and directed onto the latter in such a way that it surrounds the pipe in the form of a continuous tube whose edges are connected parallel to the pipe axis. Specifically, the edges are welded or glued together and covered by a band which is attached by gumming or welding. The coating is pref. of polyvinyl chloride, polyethylene or an elastomer such as butyl polyurethane. |
