Attachment includes an underlying feeder gripper and an overlying piping gripper both of which are guided in the stitch plate and provided with approx. semi-circular recesses for reception of the piping and respective edges of the seat cover fabrics. The needle is guided tangentially to the piping cord and the edges of the piping and the associated edges of the fabrics are guided in a slot between the grippers. Slot is disposed in the horizontal plane passing through the centre line of the piping cord.
